Background of Clarify 3 Backup/Restore Procedures

Background of Clarify 3 Backup/Restore Procedures

The Cleo Clarify backup applications consist of Clarify application programs and operating system (OS) scripts that initiate the backup process. The utilities will copy and also restore the Clarify internal database, log data, and application transaction data.

During the archive process the Clarify backup utilities will archive Clarify runtime data. The runtime data represents Business Process state, Application Configuration Objects and Transaction Data. Cleo Clarify Runtime data includes:
•Internal Clarify Application Database
•Business Process and Data Audit Logs
•Intermediate Transaction Data (and in some cases, incoming and outgoing business documents)

Types of Clarify 3 Backups

•Full Backup: (backup_system) used to back up and archive runtime data (including the Database).
•Partial Backup: (backup_db) used to back up the internal database only.

Online vs Offline Backup Options

Online Backup

When a Cleo Clarify user chooses to perform an online backup, the archving process will occur while the EBI 3 server is operational.

Active Business Processes (and the uncommitted transaction data) may not be included in the backup.

Offline Backup

When an Clarify 3 user chooses to perform an offline backup, the Clarify 3 Server will be fully stopped.
